ABOUT DUSTIN LASH

I believe you get one shot at this life.

One shot to build something meaningful, take care of your body, be a good husband, raise strong kids, make money, experience the world, screw some things up, learn from them, and hopefully leave with fewer regrets than excuses.

That’s how I try to live.

I haven’t always done it well.

I’ve been in great shape and I’ve been 50 pounds overweight.

I’ve made more money than I ever thought I would when I was younger, and I’ve also had seasons where money was damn near all I thought about.

I’ve felt completely certain about where I was headed, and I’ve had periods where I genuinely had no clue what was next.

I’ve won.

I’ve failed.

I’ve built things I was proud of.

I’ve also had to look at my own life and admit that some of the things I was chasing weren’t making me better.

That matters because I don’t believe personal development is about becoming some perfect version of yourself.

I think it’s about becoming more aware of who you are, what you believe, how you behave, and what those things are producing in your life.

Because eventually, everything comes back to the person.

Before entrepreneurship, there was logging, farm work, and just pure physical labor.

There wasn’t much conversation about personal brands, leverage, scaling, or finding your purpose.

You worked.

You showed up.

If something broke, you figured it out.

That mentality stayed with me when I found fitness and eventually business.

Around 2016, I built an online fitness business that grew to more than $150,000 a month.

Then came consulting in 2019.

Over the years, I’ve helped thousands of people and generated more money through business than the younger version of me would have believed possible.

For a long time, I measured almost everything by that scoreboard.

And that works until you start realizing there are other scoreboards.

Your health.

Your marriage.

Your relationship with your kids.

Your faith.

Your peace of mind.

BUSINESS TAUGHT ME SOMETHING I DIDN’T EXPECT.

You can build a successful business and still be developing into someone you don’t particularly want to become.

Business became too much of my identity.

And when you spend enough years tying your identity to business.

Eventually I realized I had spent years developing my ability to build businesses while neglecting parts of the person building them.

That had to change.

So I started working on myself again.

Lost 50 pounds and got in the best shape of my life.
Started reading scripture every morning and journaling my GSD list.

The same boring things that developed me in the first place that I had gotten away from.

I started being very intentional with my thoughts, time and priotites.

FATHERHOOD HAS BEEN ONE OF THE BIGGEST ONES.

I have four kids.

And raising kids will expose you quickly.

Because they don’t pay nearly as much attention to what you tell them as they do to what you show them.

You can tell your daughter what kind of man she should expect someday.

Or you can try to become an example of one.

My youngest daughter plays sports and I'm here for it.

On the weekends I'm sitting at the fence. Soaking every bit of it up because I know one day, I would probably pay any amount of money asked to watch one more game.

THE REST OF IT COMES BACK TO THE SAME THING.

Marriage taught me the same lesson.

Business did too.

So did getting out of shape and having to rebuild myself physically.

You can blame circumstances for a while, but eventually you have to look at the person creating the circumstances.

That’s why I look at development in a pretty simple order:

IDENTITY → BELIEF → BEHAVIOR → BUSINESS.

Who you believe you are shapes what you believe is possible.

What you believe shapes how you behave.

And how you behave long enough eventually becomes your life.

That’s why one idea sits underneath damn near everything I believe:

YOUR LIFE WILL NEVER CONSISTENTLY EXCEED YOUR LEVEL OF PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT.

I’ve got one life.

I want to use as much of it as I can, becoming someone capable of more, giving more, building more, and being there for the people who matter most.

That’s the work.
